Batch & Bulk Upscaling

PixelForge is built from the ground up for high-throughput batch operations. Whether you are upscaling an entire photo album, texture library, or digital art collection, the batch queue handles it smoothly.

1. Adding Multiple Images or Whole Folders

There are three ways to load images into the batch queue:

  • Drag & Drop: Drop multiple selected image files or an entire folder onto the dropzone.
  • Add Images Button: Opens the native OS file picker with multi-selection enabled.
  • Add Folder Button: Lets you pick a directory. All images in the directory will be imported into the queue in one click.
  • Include Subfolders Checkbox: Located right underneath the Add Folder button:
    • Checked (Default): Deep scans the folder and all nested subfolders inside it.
    • Unchecked: Scans only the top level of the folder, ignoring subdirectories.

2. Setting Batch Output Rules

In the Save Location & Naming section on the right sidebar:

Destination

  • Same as Original: Saves upscaled files in the same directory as their input file.
  • Custom Folder: Pick a dedicated destination folder (e.g. D:\Upscaled_Exports).
  • Preserve Folder Hierarchy: When using a Custom Folder, turn this switch ON to recreate your nested source folder structure inside the destination folder (e.g. D:\Upscaled_Exports\Vacation\Beach\photo_4x.png). When OFF, all images are saved directly in the root of the folder.

Filename Suffix

Customize the suffix added to every exported file:

  • Default: _4x or _upscaled
  • Example: photo.jpg → photo_4x.png

Collision Handling

  • If Overwrite existing output files is turned OFF, PixelForge automatically avoids destructive overwrites by appending _1, _2, etc.
  • If turned ON, existing files with the matching output name will be overwritten.

3. Running & Monitoring the Queue

Click Upscale All in the top toolbar to start processing.

  • Status Badges: Each item shows Ready, Upscaling (with percentage), Done, or Failed.
  • Elapsed Duration: Successful images show the exact time taken (e.g., 1.8s).
  • Stop Batch: Need to halt? Click Stop Batch at any time. The current item safely cancels and subsequent items remain in the queue.
  • Filtering: Use the queue header pills (All, Pending, Completed, Failed) to filter and manage items.
